It began in my teens, experimenting with film cameras and darkroom developing – I loved the creative process.
Photography was always in the background while I explored a diverse range of careers. From chemical research and retail management to property management and artisan letterpress printing. I've led a studio of web developers and graphic designers in a marketing agency, qualified as a driving instructor, owned a recruitment agency, and even taught myself web development and coding.
Clearly, I was searching for something!
Working in marketing deepened my appreciation of the power of images. It seemed that what I had been looking for had always been right in front of me. Digital photography had drawn me in with all its new possibilities, and by the early 2000s, I decided to turn my love of photography into a career – without knowing exactly where it would lead.
Fast forward nearly 20 years and many thousands of images – I still love the creativity of photography. I've been fortunate to travel far and wide, and see my images featured in a range of publications.
I continue to enjoy working with some fantastic businesses and have had the privilege to capture many inspiring events all over the world. I particularly enjoy working with artists and artisan businesses, capturing them immersed in their creative process.
I love film cameras and have a growing collection – from vintage 20’s folding styles and retro 50’s colourful plastic boxes; to the iconic Nikon F3 – camera of choice for press photographers in the 80’s. Each one has its own character. And nothing quite matches the satisfying, evocative click of an analogue shutter.
